Subject: | Condolence Resolution Honoring the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 |
In the near future, we will introduce a condolence resolution that recognizes September 11, 2021, the 20th anniversary of the violent terrorist attack leading to the tragic deaths and injuries of thousands of innocent people, as a day of solemn commemoration of September 11, 2001 and offering the Commonwealth's deepest and most sincere condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of the innocent victims of the attacks. For those of us who were alive for this attack, we will never forget that morning or where we were when our lives were interrupted as terrorists attacked American citizens and American landmarks. We remember the victims, the families, and survivors dealing with loss, recognizing the lasting consequences of 9/11 on individual lives and our nation. We must never forget the first responders who, without hesitation, put their lives in danger, running into burning buildings while others ran out. The Commonwealth also recognizes the 44 brave citizens aboard flight 93 who likely saved the lives of hundreds of Americans and the destruction of the U.S. Capitol with their heroic act in overtaking the terrorists flying the plane. Please join us in co-sponsoring this resolution, which was tailored as best as possible to comport with new House rules. A draft of our resolution is included below. |
