Subject: | Wine Expanded Permits and the Sale of Wine |
Soon, I will be introducing legislation regarding the hours of sale for wine and WEPS. As many of you are no doubt aware, a licensee who holds a restaurant or hotel liquor license may sell malt and brewed beverages for off-premise consumption until 2 a.m. What you may not be aware of is that for these same licensees who hold a Wine Expanded Permit (WEP) they must cease selling wine for off-premise consumption at 11 p.m. My legislation will allow WEPS to sell wine for off-premise consumption until 2 a.m. the same as malt and brewed beverages. I believe that this is a common sense change that will provide parity for wine, while allowing our constituents who pick up beer later in the day the same chance to purchase wine at the same location. Thank you in advance for consideration of my legislation. |
