Subject: Clarifying amendment to the Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts
 
Even before the COVID-19 pandemic made virtual meetings the dominant mode of meeting for a year, business had been trending in that direction for some time.   The practice of notaries has not been exempted from those trends, and the General Assembly has responded to modernize the laws governing notaries through Acts 15 and 97 of 2020.

My legislation will provide clarity that these changes do not apply to depositions taken by court reporters in administrative, civil, or criminal court proceedings.
