MEMORANDUM

Posted: May 14, 2021 10:12 AM
From: Representative Steven R. Malagari
To: All House members
Subject: Dr. Frank E. Boston Memorial Highway

Extraordinary people leave a lasting impact on their communities. Dr. Frank E. Boston is one such extraordinary person. Born in 1890, Dr. Frank E. Boston went on to serve his country during World War I in the Medical Reserve Corps of the 317th Infantry. A true patriot, Dr. Frank E. Boston continued fighting for what was right when he returned home to Philadelphia.

Dr. Frank E. Boston believed in providing medical assistance and lasting education to his community. He opened a hospital in Lansdale, Montgomery County, called the Elm Terrace Hospital, which would later be renamed the North Penn Hospital. Today, it is a part of the Jefferson Health Systems and known as the Lansdale Abington Hospital. Dr. Frank E. Boston also formed a First Aid Emergency Squad in Lansdale, now called the Volunteer Medical Services Corps. He dedicated countless hours to this endeavor and to many others, including fundraisers for veterans.

Dr. Frank E. Boston was an extraordinary person who deserves to be recognized. For this reason, I plan to introduce legislation designating a stretch of highway in Montgomery County as the Dr. Frank E. Boston Memorial Highway. Please join me in paying tribute to Dr. Frank E. Boston and his remarkable service to our country and our state by co-sponsoring this legislation.

Introduced as HB1987
