Subject: | Barber Law |
I plan to reintroduce former House Bill 255 from last session. The State Barber Board is concerned over the present lack of barber teachers in the Commonwealth. This scarcity of qualified barber teachers threatens the ability for our barber schools to continue training licensed barbers. In order to address this shortage this bill amends the Barbers’ License Law. The specific change will allow licensed barbers who have 3 years of experience or licensed manager-barbers with 1 year of experience as of January 1, 2015 to opt to become licensed as a barber-teacher without examination. This is contingent upon no record of disciplinary action and payment of the required fee. Please join with me in co-sponsoring this change to the Barbers’ License Law to insure the continuity of this profession. Previous co-sponsors: DUNBAR, JAMES, HELM, HILL-EVANS AND ZIMMERMAN |
