Subject: | Urging HHS to Increase Pennsylvania’s COVID-19 Vaccine Allocation |
It has been over one year since our state had its first reported cases of COVID-19. Since then, nearly 25,000 of our neighbors have died because of this disease. Each of those individuals had friends and family who cared about them. Each had a story. Now, thanks in large part to the vaccinations available, we can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Our hopes for a return to normalcy rest on people receiving vaccines for this virus and on enough doses being available. Yet, we are dependent upon the federal government allocating our state sufficient doses of these vaccines. That is why I am introducing a resolution urging the United States Department of Health and Human Services to increase the allocation of COVID-19 vaccine doses sent to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. From the early days of the pandemic when we were among the hardest hit until now, our state and our citizens have been diligently following the recommendations of public health experts to mitigate the spread of this disease. Our commitment to evidence-based, life-saving policies should be recognized, and with more vaccines we can get to the finish line and provide our citizens with relief from this prolonged ordeal. I ask that you co-sponsor this resolution and help speed up our efforts to overcome this virus. |
