Subject: | Permitting Clergy entrance into Long Term Care Facilities |
I plan to introduce legislation in the near future that will protect the religious liberty of residents in PA’s long-term care facilities. It has been nearly a year since many of our long-term care facilities have closed to visits from friends, family, and loved ones of the residents. Many of these facilities are still closed to visitors, resulting in the social isolation the residents. The prolonged separation from the normalcy of their daily life has impacted the overall health and well-being of our residents in long-term care. In most cases, residents have been unable to access clergy, outside of end-of-life situations. I believe that these individuals should have access to members of clergy to support their emotional well-being. I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this legislation so we can ensure the religious liberty of these residents. |
