|Subject:||Mortgagor Tax Delinquency Relief|
During these difficult times we need to allow a family an opportunity to become current on their taxes and save their home. This bill will provide a lifeline and allow a family to reevaluate their finances so they can become current on taxes and avoid unfortunate outcomes. Too often mortgage companies act too fast to call in a mortgage or force escrow on a family behind on their taxes.
My legislation will provide families eight months after the tax lien has been filed to become current on their taxes, before a mortgage company may call-in their mortgage. The mortgage company must provide written notice of the process and time frame the mortgagor has to remove the tax lien. Mortgage companies may offer escrow services but cannot require the mortgagor to begin an escrow account.
Please join me in sponsoring this legislation, in order to provide Pennsylvania families extra security from losing their homes especially during tough economic times.
