House of Representatives
Session of 2021 - 2022 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 1, 2021 12:17 PM
From: Representative Ryan A. Bizzarro
To: All House members
Subject: Requiring Politicians to Clean Up After Themselves

Elections heighten partisanship – but one thing we can all agree on, is that when an election is over, the signs should come down.

Unclaimed election signs impede roadways and litter our communities in violation of local and county ordinances, however, most of our municipalities don’t have the time or resources to enforce these patchwork rules.

Therefore, I propose we create an amendment to the nuisance statute to require removal of all political signs by the candidates and their campaigns within 10 days of the election upon penalty of a fine and mandatory litter cleanup for community service.

Please join me in keeping our streets clean.

Introduced as HB891
