MEMORANDUM

Subject: Reverse Mortgage Font Size

In another effort to protect older Pennsylvanians, we need a law requiring a minimum font size on reverse mortgage disclosures.

Those who opt for reverse mortgages are often older and may have trouble reading small print. Often, the details of these potential life changing contracts contain a font size that is hard to read, even for those with perfect vision.

Financial decisions regarding one’s home are the most impactful ones that can be made. Let’s ensure potential contracts are easily legible by requiring font sizes of 24 point or larger.

Last session this was HB 607. Please join me to ensure reverse mortgage disclosure terms are easily legible.

Introduced as HB512
