Session of 2021 - 2022 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 8, 2021 11:56 AM
From: Representative Marty Flynn
To: All House members
Subject: Joe Biden Day

James Buchanan, the 15th President of the United States, made history as the first Pennsylvanian to be sworn into office as president in 1857. Nearly 164 years later, a Pennsylvania native will once again ascend to the highest elected office in America. On January 20, 2021, President-elect Joe Biden will be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States of America and only the second president to be born in our great state.

Joe Biden was born on November 20, 1942, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to a blue-collar family. Throughout his childhood, Biden’s parents - like so many other parents in Pennsylvania - instilled toughness, hard work, and perseverance into their son. He credits his humble upbringing in Scranton in helping him become the man he is today. His love and admiration for our Commonwealth continuously shines through.

In honor of President-elect Joe Biden becoming our nation’s leader and cultivating a country of unity and respect, I will be offering a resolution recognizing January 20, 2021, as “Joe Biden Day” in Pennsylvania. Please join me in showing your support for our nation’s next leader by co-sponsoring this resolution.
