Subject: | Prohibiting Non-Compete Clauses for Low-Wage Workers |
All workers deserve the opportunity to provide for their families and grow their careers. Unfortunately, some low-wage workers are being obstructed from advancing their careers by the use of non-compete clauses. These agreements give employers an unfair advantage and puts their concerns before the needs of workers. We must move to level the playing field and eliminate the exploitation of our low-wage workers in Pennsylvania. In order to allow workers the ability to advance their careers, my legislation would prohibit employers from including non-compete clauses in the employment contracts of low-wage workers. In doing so, low-wage employees would be free to enter or start a similar trade or profession, giving them to do what is best for themselves and their families. As representatives, it is our duty to protect the workers of this Commonwealth. I ask that you support this legislation and join me in standing up for Pennsylvania workers and giving hard working Pennsylvanians a chance at a better future. |
