|Subject:||Charitable Designation for Fraternal Organizations (Formerly HB 2313)|
|Pennsylvania has a long history of fraternal organizations with deep roots in the communities they operate in. Often, these organizations help fill in between the cracks of government programs by providing important services to people across this state. For this reason, I am introducing legislation that will designate certain, deserving, societies as purely public charities to relieve them of their tax burden and free up additional resources that can be used for charity. To qualify, the organization must have been operating in Pennsylvania for at least 100 years, be a section 501(c)(8) or (10) organization and operate without a liquor license.
These organizations advance substantial and meaningful charitable causes, and we should be making it easier for them to continue to do so. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.
Introduced as HB1581
