Subject: | Retail Workers Safety and Protection from Abuse |
Our frontline employees like retail and restaurant workers have bravely worked during this pandemic. Their lives and physical safety should not be threatened for simply enforcing mask mandates or social distancing rules intended to keep all Pennsylvanians safe. For this reason, I plan on introducing a bill that would classify assault against a retail or restaurant worker that is enforcing a public health directive as aggravated assault. This is a way we can reduce the number of employees violently attacked simply for doing their job. A worker should not be attacked when they are just trying to provide for their family. We can do more to protect our frontline workers that have put their health at risk to help Pennsylvania recover from this pandemic. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation to protect our retail and restaurant workers from abuse. |
