Subject: | COVID-19 Education Accountability Package |
The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc across the world and our great Commonwealth, affecting every part of our daily lives. Like many education systems across the nation, Pennsylvania’s schools were not adequately equipped or prepared to adapt to the changes the pandemic created. Therefore, I plan to introduce two bills that will study the impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having on our students and education system. As we navigate this unprecedented time and come out on the other side of this pandemic, it will be important to know the effects, both positive and negative, that the federal, state and local responses, mitigation efforts and guidance have had on our students and education system. |
Introduced as HB228
Description: | I plan to introduce legislation that directs the Joint State Government Committee to conduct a study and issue three reports on the academic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Commonwealth’s students, and shall include the methods of instruction which are most successful. An initial report shall be submitted by January 31, 2021, an interim report shall be submitted by June 30, 2021, and a final report shall be submitted by December 31, 2021. Please join me by co-sponsoring this legislation. |
