Subject: | Exclusion of Veterans' Compensation Benefits from Income Calculations |
In the near future, I plan to re-introduce legislation (former HB 1774) that will exempt 100% of a veterans’ federal disability compensation or pension from income calculations for any Commonwealth program or benefit. My proposal will help achieve three important goals. First, the legislation provides a definition for a “veterans’ compensation benefit.” Second, it provides that federal veterans’ compensation or pension benefits will no longer be used to determine a veteran’s eligibility for Commonwealth assistance programs or rebates. Lastly, it will extend the exclusion of the veteran’s compensation benefits to the veteran’s unmarried surviving spouse. Please consider joining me in sponsoring this piece of legislation.
