Subject: Updating The Validation Of Recorded Documents
 
I plan to introduce legislation that will update Act 69 of 1967, which validates conveyances and other legal instruments which have acknowledgements containing technical errors. The proposed legislation will validate acknowledgements for deeds and mortgages which are dated after 2013 and prior to 2018.

The Act was last amended in 2013 and the General Assembly has customarily updated the provisions of Act 69 about every seven years. When a technical error exists in an acknowledgement, it makes subsequent transfers of property difficult unless the error is corrected by this type of legislation.
