MEMORANDUM

Posted: October 27, 2020 08:55 AM
From: Representative Wendy Ullman
To: All House members
Subject: Mandating Insurance Coverage for COVID-19-related Medical Interventions

Every Pennsylvanian has a right to expect protections from COVID-19. This includes confidence that they will be safeguarded from debilitating financial costs as a result of medical interventions for COVID-19. The fear of incurring medical debt should not be a factor that inhibits individuals from seeking necessary life-preserving care.

To ensure that every citizen in this great Commonwealth receives such protections, I am introducing a bill that would mandate insurance coverage for all costs related to COVID-19 testing, therapies, and preventions without patient cost-sharing. If passed, this policy would enable Pennsylvanians to seek care for COVID-19 without having the expectation for any out-of-pocket payments, and as such, this legislation would safeguard individuals from crippling medical debt while promoting safe public health practices.

Please join me in supporting the health of communities throughout Pennsylvania by co-sponsoring this legislation. The people of Pennsylvania deserve access to healthcare that does not jeopardize their overall wellbeing.

Introduced as HB2959
