MEMORANDUM

To: All House members
Subject: Honoring Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers

Local businesses are the backbone of any economy, not mega corporations. As the largest job creators, these businesses provide much needed services and revenue to local communities. The question then is, where can expanding small businesses and entrepreneurs go for help, especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic? Pennsylvania’s Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) are there for these businesses with help and advice. Located throughout the state, SBDCs provide services to get businesses started and help them continue on the path to success. One such service is helping a business establish and utilize e-commerce, which has become a necessity during the pandemic.

I will be introducing a resolution to recognize Pennsylvania’s Small Business Development Centers for their success over the last 40 years. These centers have helped to create over six thousand business since 2011, generating over three billion dollars in sales. The professional staff at the Small Business Development Centers need to be congratulated for their hard work and success.

Please join me in sponsoring this resolution and recognize our Small Business Development Centers and the work their staff does in support of our most vital businesses, our local small businesses.
