|Subject:||Resolution “Pro Bono Week” in Pennsylvania|
|In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating the week of October 25th
through October 31st as “Pro Bono Week” in Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania attorneys provide legal assistance at low or no cost, commonly referred to as "pro bono" work for low-income clients each year. This includes mortgage foreclosure cases, domestic violence cases and additionally, they have helped more than 4000 Pennsylvanians review their records to see if they qualify for Clean Slate.
Recognizing this week is an opportunity to highlight the difference lawyers make in their communities, to recruit and train more pro bono volunteers and to acknowledge the partnerships that form the basis for many of the private bar's most successful pro bono efforts.
The Pennsylvania Bar Association is joining with the American Bar association to sponsor this October's annual National "Pro Bono Week" celebration which highlights the good work Pennsylvania attorneys do for the neediest among us.
