MEMORANDUM

Posted: June 29, 2020 08:47 AM
From: Representative Doyle Heffley and Rep. Jerry Knowles
To: All House members
Subject: Giving Legislative Staff Access to the UC and PUA Computer Systems

In the very near future, we plan on introducing legislation that would give legislative staff access to the Unemployment Compensation and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance computer systems. Under current regulations, only certain employees at the Department of Labor and Industry have access to these systems, with very few exceptions.

Legislative staff, in both Harrisburg and district offices, are currently receiving an inundation of inquiries regarding issues with constituents’ unemployment claims. This legislation would allow legislative staff access to the Unemployment Compensation and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance computer systems for the purpose of expediting the process of identification and resolution of issues that are affecting individual claims and ultimately delaying the release of benefits.

We ask that you please join us in sponsoring this very important piece of legislation.
