Subject: | Grants for Manufacturers Producing Personal Protective Equipment |
As a direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic that is placing tremendous economic hardship on our hospitals and personal care homes in the Commonwealth, I intend to introduce legislation that will provide grants to our manufacturers producing personal protective equipment (PPE). PPE, which includes N-95 masks, gowns, gloves, Tyvek suits, surgical masks, face shields and goggle and hand sanitizer, have been in HIGH demand since the pandemic broke in early March. Many of our Commonwealth manufacturers changed from making their products to making PPE. To ensure that the Commonwealth does not have another shortage of PPE supplies, my legislation creates a grant program for Commonwealth manufacturers to continue to make PPE as well as be able to make their original products. These grants can be used by our manufacturers to purchase equipment or cover start up fees for the making of PPE. I respectfully ask for your consideration to join me as a co-sponsor of this legislation. |
