Subject: Providing Public Transportation for Caregivers
 
Pennsylvania currently has programs that provide funding to help cover public transportation for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities; however, the caregivers who provide these vulnerable individuals needed assistance are often left covering their own fare when taking public transit even while on duty. Now more than ever, we need to offer our support to these individuals.
 
This is why I am introducing a bill to provide funding to help cover public transportation for the caregivers of individuals with disabilities and of senior citizens. My bill expands an existing program to include caregivers. This bill is a small, but needed, show of support and thanks to the individuals who provide necessary care to our loved ones.
 
As parts of our state are still seeing high COVID-19 infection rates, this measure can help keep our most at-risk citizens safe at home. Please join me in supporting this bill and help those who help some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
