Subject:	Waiver to permit horse race meetings

In the near future I will be introducing legislation providing for a waiver to permit horse race meetings at the Commonwealth’s six horse and harness racing tracks, if the following apply: The licensed racing entity can provide for the adherence to the social distancing practices and other mitigation measures defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to protect workers and to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus at the racetrack, and could open a racetrack enclosure under the same parameters; The State Horse Racing Commission permits employees necessary to regulate horse racing to go back to work; and The laboratory that provides for medication testing is operational at the time of horse race meeting.
