Subject: | Entertainment/Amusement Tax Relief |
I am planning to introduce legislation that would temporarily suspend the tax on admission to places of amusement in Pennsylvania. The state’s tourism and entertainment industry has an economic impact of almost $45 billion dollars a year and supports over a half a million jobs. As you can imagine, it has been devastated by the current crisis, and the many popular amusements and recreational sites that have had to close are facing a long and painful economic recovery. Some may not make it back. I believe that suspending the current tax on admissions will help provide a lifeline to our attractions and give them the breathing space they need to stay economically feasible, as they safely reopen to a new norm. Please join me in cosponsoring this important legislation. |
