Subject: | Health Care Facility Equipment Inventory |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would require health care facilities licensed in the Commonwealth to provide an inventory to the Department of Health of the health care equipment each facility maintains. Since the announcement of the declaration, DOH has been seeking other locations where it can provide health care services. Facilities that are licensed to provide elective procedures maintain much of the same equipment that is needed by the hospitals and health systems during this crisis. For more than a week, DOH and HAP have not been able to determine the number of beds there are in the Commonwealth in our ambulatory surgical facilities. Additionally, the amount of personal protective equipment held by these facilities is unknown. To prevent this lapse of information, I am introducing legislation that would require all health care facilities to report a list of health care equipment maintained by the health care facility as part of their annual licensure process. Additionally, when a disaster emergency is declared, the facility is required to report this information to the department within 24 hours of the declaration. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation. |
