|Subject:||Fair Pay or No Tax Credits|
|When tax dollars support a construction project – public or private – the taxpayers deserve to know they’re getting the best work possible and that the workers are being paid a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work.
Right now, only public projects are held to the Prevailing Wage Act mandating community-appropriate pay for workers doing the building. But, every year, hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars are invested in private projects through state tax credits with no guarantees for the workers doing the job.
We need to fix this and expand prevailing wages to corporations, companies, and organizations that benefit from Pennsylvania tax credits – that is, use taxpayer money to build private projects.
This concept enjoys overwhelming bipartisan, bi-cameral support. Recently, legislation establishing a new tax credit program included a prevailing wage provision and passed both the House and Senate. We need to extend this provision to all projects.
Anybody that benefits from Pennsylvania tax credits should help strengthen the middle class by ensuring that workers receive a real wage to support their family. Please support this legislation to make this a reality.
