MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 5, 2020 12:52 PM
From: Representative Jesse Topper
To: All House members
Subject: Federal Highway Trust Fund

In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution that would urge Congress to allocate additional sources of funding to the Federal Highway Trust Fund.

It is no secret that Congress’ inaction to provide states with financial support for transportation funding has led to states allocating their limited gas tax revenues for projects on Interstates. In addition to Congress’ inaction to fund transportation infrastructure, the current trend across the United States of the continued decline in motor fuel tax revenues has exacerbated the funding dilemma, which Pennsylvania is currently experiencing.

By formally calling upon Congress to act, my resolution would ensure that the Federal Government understands our Commonwealth is adamant on being able to provide sustainable infrastructure for future generations.

My resolution is part of the House Transportation Task Force’s package of bills that is responsible for finding innovative ways for the Commonwealth to fund transportation, while also ensuring the current funding sources to transportation are as effective as possible.

I hope you will consider supporting this upcoming resolution.
