Subject: Military Family Relief Assistance Program Extension
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will extend the Military Family Relief Program.

The Military Family Relief Assistance Program (MFRAP), which has been in existence since 2005, provides financial assistance to Armed Forces personnel and their families, including the National Guard and the Reserve components. The assistance available under this program is immediate and can be used for food, shelter, clothing, medical care that is necessary, which is due to a member's active duty status, such as deployment overseas.

The relief program is funded by a tax check-off authorized under the Tax Reform Code. My legislation will extend the MFRAP in perpetuity.

Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation so that we can continue to provide emergency assistance to our military personnel and their families.
