Subject: | Requiring Reserved Parking for Expectant Mothers |
Toward the end of a pregnancy, many women experience discomfort and pain when they walk, including lower back pain and shortness of breath. A short walk from the store or from work to a vehicle can be physically exhausting. Even after a child is born, the first few months can be difficult to navigate for new parents, particularly efforts to guide young children through a busy parking lot. Because of this, I am introducing a bill to require reserved parking for expectant mothers and for parents of children under twelve months of age. My legislation will stipulate that parking lots must have spaces reserved for this purpose and will require a special parking placard for utilizing these reserved spots. Carrying and birthing a child is one of the most difficult and important jobs a person can have, and we have it in our power to make this job a little easier. Join me by supporting this legislation and show your support for pregnant women in our state. |
