Subject: | Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day Resolution |
An ancient form of healing, acupuncture has been practiced for more than 3,000 years beginning in China. It is now practiced worldwide and has been the subject of many medical research studies, including several that have shown efficacy in treating chronic pain conditions including arthritis and migraines. In fact, the World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes acupuncture as a proven, effective treatment for about two dozen conditions. When done by trained professionals, acupuncture and oriental medicine can be part of an integrated health and wellness care plan, alongside standard Western medicine. As an acknowledgement of these many health benefits, I will be introducing a resolution designating October 24, 2020, as Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day in Pennsylvania. Please join me in recognizing the skilled work of Pennsylvania’s 700 licensed acupuncturists. |
