Subject: | RESOLUTION ~ RECOGNIZING FEB 12, 2020 AS WORLD CHOLANGIOCARCINOMA DAY |
Please join me in co-sponsoring a resolution recognizing February 12, 2020 as “World Cholangiocarcinoma Day” in Pennsylvania. Cholangiocarcinoma/Bile Duct Cancer (CCA) is a rare form of cancer that originates in the cells lining the bile duct. The bile duct is a thin tube about 4 to 5 inches long that moves a fluid called bile from your liver and gallbladder to your small intestine. Each year in the United States approximately 12,000 Americans are diagnosed with this disease. Symptoms can include jaundice, abdominal pain, itchy skin and weight loss. There are various treatment options including a liver transplant, chemotherapy, radiation and photodynamic therapy and biliary drainage. The most popular treatment option is surgery. I hope you will consider joining me in raising awareness and encouraging research to fight this disease. |
