MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 3, 2020 02:56 PM
From: Representative Meghan Schroeder
To: All House members
Subject: Consolidating material relating to the Aviation Restricted Account into Title 74 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes

Please join me as a co-sponsor of legislation to consolidate material relating to the deposits and eligible uses for money in the Aviation Restricted Account into Title 74 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes. This legislation is part of the effort to clean up and modernize Pennsylvania’s statutes.

The Aviation Restricted Account is a restricted account within the Motor License Fund. Deposits into the account include the proceeds of excise taxes upon the use of fuel in aircraft engines and various fines, fees, forfeitures and rents relating to aircraft and airports. The amount in the account is appropriated each year by the General Assembly for aviation operations, airport development, and for real estate tax rebate payments to privately owned public use airports.

Under this legislation, the statutory language governing the deposits and uses of money in the account, which were enacted into the Administrative Code of 1929 through Act 105 of 1996, would be consolidated into Title 74 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes. This would unify the material on the account in a single section of law.

I look forward to working with you on this important legislation.

Introduced as HB2282
