MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 24, 2020 12:40 PM
From: Representative Anita Astorino Kulik
To: All House members
Subject: Blight Demolition Bond Issuance Program

Besides being an eyesore, blighted properties can harbor criminals, attract vandals, draw wild animals, and can create unsanitary conditions for the community. These abandoned properties act as an invitation for children and teenagers to explore. The simple removal of these eyesores can help raise property values. We must take action to eradicate such hazards from our neighborhoods.

My legislation will allow the Commonwealth Financing Authority to issue a bond and create a grant program to provide assistance to municipalities for the demolition of blighted properties. This way, municipalities can have a source of funding to remove blighted properties and start rehabilitating communities throughout the Commonwealth.
Let us commit to the safety of our communities and the people who live there. Please join me in helping to provide safer neighborhoods for the families of Pennsylvania.
