Subject: Food Allergy Awareness Week in Pennsylvania
 
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution recognizing May 10-16, 2020 as Food Allergy Awareness Week in Pennsylvania.

Food allergies among children have increased over 50% between 1997 and 2011. That’s nearly 6 million children (under the age 18) or roughly two children in every classroom. Compared to children who do not have a medical condition, children with food allergies are twice as likely to be bullied.

Every three minutes, a food allergy reaction sends someone to the emergency room. While immunotherapy offers a promise for treatment, there is currently no cure for allergies.

Please join me in cosponsoring this resolution to bring awareness and advocate for those affected by food allergies in our Commonwealth.
