MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 21, 2020 02:29 PM
From: Representative Michael Peifer
To: All House members
Subject: Updates and Revisions to the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Law of 1947

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will provide a number of necessary updates and revisions to the state CPA Law. Specifically, my legislation will codify the nationally recognized Code of Professional Conduct standard, expand the scope of classes students can take toward earning an accounting degree, and strengthen the peer review requirements on CPA firms. I believe these changes, in addition to the other revisions provided for in my legislation, will enable our accountants to continue meeting the financial needs of taxpayers in a rapidly evolving industry.

This legislation is supported by the PA Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). I respectfully ask for your consideration to cosponsor this legislation.

Introduced as HB2288
