Subject: | Urging Congress to Repeal the Pink Tax |
Often similar products will be marketed for either men or women, however, increasing the price of one of those products aimed at one gender is discriminatory. Unfortunately, studies have shown that women face this discriminatory action every day when they purchase personal care products, dry cleaning, clothing, vehicle repair and other items. The product targeted at men tends to be less expensive. These increased price differences cost women thousands of dollars during their lifetime. For this reason, I will be introducing a resolution urging Congress to pass House Resolution 2048, the Pink Tax Repeal Act. It is time to end this discrimination, which occurs in retailers, and with manufacturers across the country. In most cases, the increase in cost is avoidable and that is why we need Congress to act and end this practice. I ask that you support this resolution and join me in standing up for Pennsylvania women. Let’s ensure that we have an equitable marketplace for all. |
