Subject: Designating November 14, 2019, as "World Diabetes Day" in Pennsylvania
 
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution designating November 14, 2019, as “World Diabetes Day” in Pennsylvania.

Since 2007, the United Nations observes “World Diabetes Day” to recognize diabetes as a chronic, debilitating and costly disease associated with major complications that pose severe risks for families, countries and the entire world. The theme of “World Diabetes Day” for 2019—which is today—is “Family and Diabetes” to raise awareness of the impact that diabetes has on the family and support network of those affected and promote the role of the family in the management, care, prevention and education of diabetes.

Today is especially important to the 1.4 million Pennsylvanians who have diabetes, another 3.5 million who have prediabetes and their families. Please join me in observing “World Diabetes Day” in Pennsylvania. Thank you for your support.
