Subject: | One Health Day |
One Health is the concept that the health of humans, animals, plants, ecosystems, and the environment are closely linked. Recognizing the diversity and interconnectedness of these health issues, a One Health approach brings together experts from multiple fields to address these concerns. The One Health approach is being increasingly accepted by numerous major health-oriented organizations, like the World Health Organization and the American Public Health Association, to name just a couple. Consequently, Pennsylvania has established a One Health Task Force that is diligently working to broaden the collaborative actions of commonwealth agencies and partners concerned with attaining optimal health for people, animals and the environment. As elected officials, it is our duty to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all Pennsylvanians, animals, and ecosystems that inhabit this Commonwealth. It is time that we recognize the interconnectedness of health in the Commonwealth. It is time that we recognize November 3rd, 2019 as “One Health Day” in Pennsylvania to highlight, promote, and raise awareness about the One Health approach. Please join me in co-sponsoring our resolution to recognize November 3rd, 2019 as One Health Day in Pennsylvania. |
