Subject: | A resolution commemorating William Penn's 375th Birthday on Oct 24, 2019 |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a Resolution commemorating William Penn’s 375th birthday on October 24, 2019. William Penn had strong faith in a representative form of government, public education without regard to race, creed, sex or ability to pay and respect for the civil liberties of all persons. Pennsylvania’s Constitution was revised by Penn and was adopted as the “Charter of Privileges” to which this strongly established Pennsylvania as a foundation to other colonies, that it progressed into the later adoption of our American Liberties, the Constitution of the United States. It is apparent that William Penn’s fundamental ideological values are still embedded in our Commonwealth and we must continue to celebrate and remember his influence upon America. It is because of this, that I hope you join me in honoring William Penn’s 375th birthday. Please join me in co-sponsoring this commemorative resolution. |
