MEMORANDUM

Posted: September 23, 2019 04:01 PM
From: Representative Harry Readshaw
To: All House members
Subject: Marine Corps Birthday - November 10, 2019

There are 184,000 active duty Marines and nearly 2.2 million Marine Corps veterans in the U.S. today. These brave men and women are part of a long history of excellence that began at the Marines’ original recruiting headquarters right here in Pennsylvania and includes participation in every major U.S. conflict as far back as the Revolutionary War. The U.S. Marine Corps has routinely played pivotal roles, such as assisting with the liberation of the Pacific Islands during World War II and shifting U.S. fortunes in the Korean War.
I would like to take this opportunity to honor the strength, dedication and courage of all active duty, reserve and veteran Marines, including those who are no longer with us. As such, I will be introducing a resolution celebrating the 244th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps on November 10, 2019. I hope you will join me in remembering the Marines’ role in preserving freedom and democracy both at home and abroad and in wishing the Marine Corps a very happy birthday.
