Subject: | Dr. Patricia Hilliard-Robertson Memorial Bridge |
In the near future, I will introduce legislation to honor Dr. Patricia Hilliard-Robertson. The bill will designate the bridge on a portion of U.S. Route 119 over the Yellow Creek in Indiana County as the Dr. Patricia Hilliard-Robertson Memorial Bridge. Dr. Patricia Hilliard-Robertson lived a life of service to others and was an exemplary role model for women in science. Dr. Hilliard-Robertson practiced medicine in Erie, and she was one of two fellows selected to study aerospace medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas and at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. In 1998, NASA selected Dr. Hilliard-Robertson for the Astronaut Candidate Training program. Upon completing training, she served as the office representative for the Crew Healthcare System and as Crew Support Astronaut for the International Space Station Expedition-2 Crew. Dr. Hilliard-Robertson passed away on May 24, 2001. Please join me in sponsoring this important piece of legislation. |
