Subject: | Cyril Thomas Yeckley Memorial Bridge |
I will soon introduce legislation to designate a bridge on the portion of Friend Lea Road that spans Route 219 in Ebensburg, Cambria County, as the Cyril Thomas Yeckley Memorial Bridge. Private First Class Cyril Thomas Yeckley, a rifleman in the United States Marine Corps., began his tour of duty in Vietnam on Feb. 23, 1969. Just a few weeks later, on March 13, 1969, PFC Yeckley engaged in hostile action in Quang Nam, South Vietnam and was killed in action of multiple fragmentation wounds. Born on Oct. 20, 1945, in Carrolltown, PFC Yeckley gave his life in service to our nation. He was aptly awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation honoring PFC Cyril Thomas Yeckley. |
