MEMORANDUM

Posted: June 17, 2019 11:08 AM
From: Representative David R. Millard
To: All House members
Subject: Establish an Advisory Committee to Conduct a Study on the Challenges Individuals with Disabilities Face When Traveling Within Pennsylvania

I plan to introduce legislation that will direct the Joint State Government Commission to establish an advisory committee to conduct a study on the challenges individuals with disabilities face when traveling within Pennsylvania.

More than 25 million Americans with disabilities have reported travel-limiting disabilities, and 3.6 million of them do not leave their homes because they are disables or homebound. Many travelers with disabilities are hesitant to travel due to concerns about the availability of support and accommodation at their destination or during their travels.

I believe this legislation will shed light on the challenges these individuals face when traveling, and it is my hope that we can learn how to better their lives so that they can have more opportunities to succeed.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation.
