Subject: | Pride Month |
In order to promote inclusion and celebrate the social progress, Pride Month is celebrated each year in June. The event coincides with the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York, which served as the tipping point in the LGBTQ+ rights movement in the United States and around the world. Pride Month is not only an opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community to come together and celebrate the progress we have made as a country, but to also remember past hardships, and recognize the hard work that still needs to be done to achieve full equality. Pride Month celebrations are held in cities and towns across Pennsylvania and the United States and are enjoyed by millions each year. It is our duty as public servants to do everything in our power to support the equal treatment of all Pennsylvanians. Please join in this fight to promote equality and a culture of anti-discrimination by supporting legislation designating June 2019 as “Pride Month” in Pennsylvania. |
