|Subject:||Resolution Declaring May 2019 as Older Pennsylvanians Month|
|Please join us in recognizing the month of May as "Older Pennsylvanians Month" in Pennsylvania.
Traditionally, May has been recognized as "Older Americans Month" here in Pennsylvania and across the nation. This year’s theme is “Connect, Create, Contribute. We want to recognize that older adults are reaching out to Connect with friends, family, and services, they Create by engaging in activities that promote learning, health, and personal enrichment and they Contribute time, talent, and life experience to benefit others.
Since 2011, approximately 10,000 Americans turn 65 every day. The baby boomer generation is a much different senior population than the previous generation. The “Connect, Create, Contribute” theme focuses on the qualities and gifts our seniors bring to our neighborhoods and communities.
Older Pennsylvanians are leading and inspiring others. We continue to recognize older adults for their contributions to our communities. As Chairmen of the House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee, we offer this resolution to specifically honor the older citizens of our Commonwealth.
