Subject: | The Notre-Dame Cathedral Fire |
Yesterday afternoon, the great historic and cultural landmark, the Notre-Dame Cathedral in the center of Paris, France suddenly erupted in flames. Millions of people around the world watched in shock and in sadness as the 12th century gothic cathedral’s iconic spire and roof became engulfed by the fire and collapsed. The extent of the damage is not yet known as firefighters had struggled to control the fire for hours. While so many questions as to the cause of the fire remain unknown, the world mourned with France as the symbolic heart of Paris burned. As a show of Pennsylvania’s support, I intend to offer a resolution to express our condolences on the destruction of this architectural marvel. Notre-Dame Cathedral has been a monumental component of Parisian history, art, and religion for centuries. Please join me in offering our sincerest thoughts to the people of France as they begin the process of healing and rebuilding. |
