Subject: State Appointees to Airport Authority Boards
 
Please join me in co-sponsoring my proposed legislation that will change the composition of Airport Authority Boards in 2nd Class Counties to include appointees from the General Assembly and the Governor. The state government provides substantial funding to airports, but has little say in how the funding is spent in return.

To remedy this, my legislation would amend the Municipal Authorities Act to require that these boards consist of 13 members; four appointed by the General Assembly, one appointed by the Governor, and eight appointed by the County Executive. Each legislative caucus would have one appointment to a board.

The addition of legislative and gubernatorial appointees to these boards will help to ensure that the airports run smoothly, and that state airport funding is being used in a responsible and productive manner.
