Subject: | Requires a local board of school directors to hold a public hearing on the status of school district buildings and grounds at a minimum of once every three years. |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that requires a local board of school directors to hold a public hearing on the status of school district buildings and grounds at a minimum of once every three years. This periodic review of the buildings and grounds infrastructure is aimed at making the school building and construction process more transparent and involve the public. The hearing must include any prospective plans to improve, expand, or replace any buildings or grounds in which there is a financial expenditure of public funds. The hearing must permit public input, including the ability of residents of the school district to ask questions. There must also be a status of school district buildings and grounds public report available at the time of the hearing. This hearing is in addition to other hearings required by law. Please join me in sponsoring this legislation. |
