MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 6, 2019 04:18 PM
From: Representative Tina M. Davis
To: All House members
Subject: Recognizing “International Women’s Day” and “National Women’s History Month” in Pennsylvania

A more gender-balanced world is one where we raise awareness against bias and take action for gender equality. It is also a world where we celebrate the substantial achievements that women have made in our communities, in our state, and in our nation. That is why I am introducing a resolution to recognize March 8, 2019, as “International Women’s Day” and the month of March as “National Women’s History Month” in Pennsylvania.

Women of every background have made historic contributions to the growth and strength of our society in countless recorded and unrecorded ways. Through contributions to the abolitionist movement, the emancipation movement, the labor movement, the civil rights movement, and the peace movement, women have created a more fair and just nation. Yet, despite these contributions, we often overlook and undervalue the role women have played in our history.

Join me in supporting this timely resolution and help bring attention to the monumental work that women have made and continue to make in our society.
